Adam R. Sweeney, MD specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids and face. Dr. Sweeney earned his Medical Degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He then completed his internship in Internal Medicine at the University of Washington, where he stayed to complete his residency in ophthalmology.
Dr. Sweeney was then selected for a highly competitive fellowship in oculofacial, orbital, cosmetic, and reconstructive surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He became one of only ~800 members of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). Dr. Sweeney has trained in cancer reconstructive surgery at the #1 ranked cancer institute—MD Anderson Cancer Center. He has also spent significant time working with pediatric patients in multiple children’s hospitals and veterans at numerous VA hospitals across the country.
There is tremendous variability in eyelid anatomy and appearance. Asian eyelids have the most variability in that the eyelid crease may be small, hidden, or sometimes absent. This patient presented complaining of a “monolid” and wanted a more westernized eyelid appearance.
